Stiebel Eltron: Re-Pressurising and Restarting Your System
If your Stiebel Eltron system is showing an error code or there is no heating, the issue can often be fixed by repressurising and restarting the system.
Follow these steps carefully:
- Locate the pressure gauge, usually near the hot water cylinder or buffer tank.
- Check the current pressure — it should read around 1.5 bar. If it’s lower, continue below.
- Find the cold mains pipe and the heating circuit pipe connected by a small valve.
- Turn the valve slowly to allow water from the cold mains into the heating system. Watch the gauge rise.
- When the pressure reaches 1.5 bar, close the valve fully.
Note: A gradual drop in pressure over time is normal and doesn’t necessarily indicate a leak.
Once the system is repressurised, restart it using the WPM controller:
- On the WPM unit, press Menu.
- Scroll to Commissioning, then select Reset.
- Choose Heat Pump and enter the passkey 1000.
- Turn the selector to ON and press OK to start the reset.
Allow approximately 30 minutes for the system to reconfigure and return to normal operation.
If errors remain after 30 minutes, repeat both the repressurisation and reset steps once more.
