What do I need to

look out for when buying solar panels?

Investing in Solar Panels is a large financial investment for any homeowner. Before you commit to buying solar panels, please do you research. The more research you do, the more likely you are to have the right product suitable for your home and the happier you will be with your installation. Remember, not all properties will necessarily be suitable for solar panels.

01. Check the Installer's Credentials

Make sure the installer you are considering is certified, licensed, and insured. Ask to see proof of certifications, licenses, and insurance.

02. Read Reviews and Ask for References

Check out reviews from previous customers so you can get an idea of workmanship.

03. Get Multiple Quotes

Make sure you get multiple quotes from different installers so you can compare the services, prices, and warranties offered.

04. Ask About the Warranty

Make sure to ask the installer about the warranty on the equipment and labour. Also, ask about the installer’s own warranty policy.

05. Understand Financing Options

Make sure you understand all financing options available to you, and the terms and conditions.

How many solar panels do I need?

Solar panel installations should never be a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution. The correct number of panels that you need for your property is dependent on a few factors:

Your available roof space.

Your home’s current and (potential future) electricity consumption.

Your budget.

Does my roof need to be south-facing?

It is as common myth that solar only works if you have a south facing roof.

Your roof does not need to be south-facing, solar works very well on east-west roof layouts too.

The best way to find out which layout works best for your home; is to have a survey and we can run through a full performance estimate.

Will my panels generate if its not sunny?

We get this question a lot, the simple answer is yes, they will still generate if it is not sunny.
During the winter months your system may be slightly less efficient as the days are shorter than the summer months

Solar Panels do not need direct sunlight to produce electricity, so you can rest assured that your system will be generating all year round and saving you money.

What size solar system should I have?

This is very dependent on the size of your roof space! In most cases it is usually best to maximise your roof space, so your system can generate as much as possible.

A physical site survey is crucial; our surveyor will take specific measurements of your roof to design a solar system that meets your needs.

Why Should I Have Battery Storage?

It is extremely beneficial to have batteries installed alongside solar panels, in order to utilise as much of the solar energy that you are producing.

When the sun has gone in, you can then power your house hold at night from the energy stored in your battery.

Will shading affect my solar system?

Yes it does, but there are things we can do to get around it. We can install micro-inverters and optimisers to minimize the effect of the shading.

Your surveyor will complete shading calculations on your survey, to asses the potential of your solar system being shaded.
