Meet The Team

Greenscape Energy employs over 70 people. When you talk to us, you are not talking to a sales agent on commission from a distant call centre. You are talking to a real Greenscape employee, supported by a wider team of surveyors, engineers, installers and customer service specialists who all sit under the leadership group below.

This page is about the people who run the company. The Renewable Energy Specialists who will visit your home, and the install crews who will do the work, are managed by the leaders below and held to the same standards.

Why councils choose us

The list of reasons is not particularly different from why individual customers choose us. Councils are doing more rigorous procurement and demand more paperwork up front, but the underlying tests are the same.

  • Longevity

The 14-year track record matters because councils are accountable for the choices they put their name behind. If an installer disappears two years after the work, the council's residents come back to the council. Councils want to know an installer will still be trading at the end of the warranty period. We are.

  • Local presence

Our office, our warehouse, our install crews and our customer service team are all in Ipswich. We are not a sales operation routing the work through subcontracted third parties. The council can drive past our showroom on Woodbridge Road and walk in. Several have.

  • Accreditation depth

MCS, RECC, HIES, NAPIT, TrustMark, FCA, plus full manufacturer status with the brands we install. Councils need to evidence that residents are being directed towards properly vetted suppliers, and the accreditations are how that evidence is built.

  • Customer satisfaction

Councils run their own quality checks on the installers they put forward, including post-install customer surveys. Our 95% recommendation rate has held up across that scrutiny across multiple councils over multiple years.

  • Capacity

A council scheme might generate 40 installs in a quarter. Some installers cannot handle that volume without subcontracting. We can, with our employed install teams, and we do.

Our leadership team

Josh Young, CEO and Co-Founder at Greenscape Energy

Josh Young CEO and Co-Founder

Josh founded Greenscape Energy over 14 years ago. He started out from a garage with his uncle, with a single conviction: that local people needed an honest, reliable renewable energy installer they could actually trust. He has led the company through every stage of the UK's renewable journey since then, from the early solar boom, through the FIT scheme ending, into battery storage, and now the rapid growth of heat pumps, air conditioning and commercial-scale projects.

In 14 years, plenty of cowboy operators have come and gone. Greenscape has kept the same approach the whole way: do the right thing for the customer, every time, regardless of whether it is the easiest thing to sell. That is what built the 95% recommendation rate, and that is what continues to define how the company operates today.

“The reason we have grown is simple. We listen, and we recommend what is right for the customer, not what is easiest to sell. Trust builds naturally when you do that. We have grown one honest conversation at a time.”

- Josh Young, CEO
Guy Fairweather, Chief Operations Officer at Greenscape Energy

Guy Fairweather Chief Operations Officer

Guy joined in 2024 from ISG, one of the UK's largest construction firms, where he ran Group Operational Excellence. He runs the operational engine at Greenscape today: how installs get scheduled, how the warehouse stocks the right kit, how customer issues get resolved, how the business holds itself to the standards customers see in the reviews.

Guy is rarely customer-facing. His influence is in every install that runs to time, every callback that gets answered on the same day, every job that does not become a complaint. The reason the company has scaled from a small Suffolk installer to a team of 70 without the wheels coming off is largely down to the work Guy does behind the scenes.

“My job is to make sure every part of the business runs cleanly, so that every customer feels the benefit. Behind every good install is good planning. That is where I focus.”

- Guy Fairweather, COO
Maria Baines, Chief of Staff at Greenscape Energy

Maria Baines Chief of Staff

Maria plays a central role in keeping Greenscape aligned, organised and moving forward. She works closely with the senior leadership team across the business, helping to turn strategic priorities into practical action while making sure the important details do not get lost along the way.

Her remit is broad: people, governance, health and safety, compliance, business systems, external relationships and operational support. In practice that means she is often the link between departments, making sure the right people are connected and that projects continue to progress. The job involves anticipating challenges before they land, bringing structure to complex situations, and helping the business make well-informed decisions as it continues to evolve.

Approachable but determined. Passionate about an environment where people communicate openly, take ownership and work together towards the same goal. Her focus is always on keeping Greenscape successful, well-run, responsible and a positive place to work.

“My role is about joining the dots. Making sure the right conversations happen, the details are covered and we keep moving in the same direction. When people work together with clarity and a shared purpose, the whole business is stronger.”

- Maria Baines, Chief of Staff
Reggie Read, Head of Sales, Marketing and Business Strategy at Greenscape Energy

Reggie Read Head of Sales, Marketing and Business Strategy

Reggie leads commercial growth at Greenscape. Sales, marketing, brand and the long-term commercial direction of the business. He sets the tone for how we go to market and how we talk about what we do, and he has been with the company since the early days. The customer journey that today's customers experience has been shaped over the years by his work.

Reggie's role spans where the next wave of customers comes from, how proposals are presented, what kind of campaigns we run, and how the four product divisions (solar, batteries, heat pumps, air conditioning) are positioned together as one coherent offer. He is rarely on the tools but he is rarely far from them either; commercial decisions at Greenscape get tested against what the install team can actually deliver before they go anywhere near a customer.

“Renewables is one of the few industries where the work you do today is still saving customers money 25 years later. That is a brilliant thing to be selling. My job is to make sure the way we talk about it stays as honest as the work itself.”

- Reggie Read, Head of Sales, Marketing and Business Strategy
Patrick Rickards, Surveyor Operations Manager at Greenscape Energy

Patrick Rickards Surveyor Operations Manager

Pat leads the Renewable Energy Specialist team, our employed surveyors who visit customers' homes, design systems, and put together proposals. He is also the first point of contact for most of our commercial customers and for the council partnerships that bring residential work in.

Pat's job is to keep the survey and proposal process at the standard customers expect. Every Renewable Energy Specialist on the team works to a common methodology that he has shaped: walk the property, look at the bills, model the savings honestly, recommend the right system rather than the biggest one, and put it all in writing within five working days. He carries a meaningful share of the customer load himself, particularly on the larger residential and commercial projects, and he is usually the name customers ask for by their second call.

“What I love about this job is that we’re not selling anything we can’t prove. The maths is the maths, and the results speak for themselves. We’ve built a business where honesty and transparency are at the heart of what we do, and that naturally becomes our strongest sales pitch. That’s a rare position to be in.”

- Patrick Rickards, Surveyor Operations Manager
Sarah Gallagher, Head of Operations (Heating) and Business Support at Greenscape Energy

Sarah Gallagher Head of Operations (Heating) and Business Support

Sarah joined Greenscape six years ago, after a 15-year corporate career in customer operations across insurance and recruitment, with a break in between to raise her family. She has held several roles across the business since joining, which means she knows how the pieces fit together better than most.

Today Sarah heads the heating operations function (everything from heat pump survey through commissioning, including the BUS grant paperwork end-to-end) and the wider business support team that customers interact with between sale and install. Fair, firm and supportive in equal measure. The reason proposals arrive when they say they will, the reason snags get fixed on the first visit rather than the third, the reason the phone gets answered, is largely Sarah's doing.

“I love that this is a job where you can genuinely make a customer's year better. Not in a small way. In a 'their heating bill has dropped 70% and their house is finally warm year-round' kind of way. The team here cares about that and it shows up in everything we do.”

- Sarah Gallagher, Head of Operations (Heating) and Business Support
Phil Willgress, Head of Operations (Solar) and Compliance Lead at Greenscape Energy

Phil Willgress Head of Operations (Solar) and Compliance Lead

Phil started on the tools as an on-site electrician and has spent 20+ years in building services and renewable energy. He now leads the operational side of every domestic solar project and signs off on the compliance work end-to-end. His ISO 9001 diploma and his electrical background sit behind every install we send out the door.

His job is to make sure every install gets done right the first time, safely, to spec, and to the standards we publish. If a job is going to slip, Phil will be the one who sees it three days before it slips and fixes it. We do not take compliance lightly and Phil is the reason we get to say that.

“Compliance and delivery go hand in hand. Every system we install reflects the trust customers put in Greenscape. Safe, efficient, and built on quality.”

- Phil Willgress, Head of Operations (Solar) and Compliance Lead
Jordan King, Head of Finance at Greenscape Energy

Jordan King Head of Finance

Jordan has 12+ years of finance experience and runs the books at Greenscape. Budgets, cash flow, performance reporting, supplier relationships, capital allocation. His job is making sure the business stays financially resilient so it can keep doing the work it does for customers without taking shortcuts on quality or service.

Jordan also leads on commercial financing structures for our customer projects: capital allowance modelling, asset finance pathways, the PPA underwriting we arrange with funding partners. The work is technical but the principle is the same as the rest of the company. Help the customer find the right answer, not the answer that maximises our margin on one job.

“Renewable energy gets called expensive, but it is one of the few investments most households can make where the return is genuinely guaranteed by physics. The sun comes up tomorrow. The numbers add up. I like working somewhere the financial story matches the marketing story, which honestly is not always the case in this industry.”

- Jordan King, Head of Finance
Rex Mattocks, Warehouse and Fleet Manager at Greenscape Energy

Rex Mattocks Warehouse and Fleet Manager

Rex has run the warehouse and the vehicle fleet at Greenscape for nearly three years. He is the reason every install van leaves the depot with the right kit, in the right order, on the right day. Practical, organised, hard-working, and quietly central to the company. When something is missing on an install day, the install does not run. When everything is there, nobody notices, which is exactly how Rex wants it.

Beyond the warehouse and the fleet, Rex looks after the working environment for the install teams, the safety standards in the warehouse, and the day-to-day relationships with our delivery partners.

“I get a real buzz out of knowing that every van we send out has the right kit to give a customer a working solar system or heat pump by the end of the day. It is unglamorous work behind the scenes, but it is what makes the customer experience feel effortless. That matters to me.”

- Rex Mattocks, Warehouse and Fleet Manager
Daniel Elmer, Head of Technical at Greenscape Energy

Daniel Elmer Head of Technical

Dan has been in solar and battery for over 10 years. He heads our technical function: the people our installers call when something on site is not behaving, the people we route the tough customer questions to, and the people who write the customer guides for every new product we add to the range. Calm under pressure, deeply technical, and very generous with what he knows.

Dan is also the person who tests every new battery, inverter or hybrid before we add it to our line-up. If we are installing it in your house, Dan has already put one in his own. The Solis specialism, the Sigenergy partnership, the Adia Thermal integration with Clivet, the Bosch AC selection: he has had a hand in every brand decision the company has made.

“Renewables is the only industry I have worked in where the technology genuinely keeps getting better and the customer keeps coming out ahead. Five years ago a 5 kW battery was the headline. Now it is 16 kW with whole-home backup. In another five years it will be vehicle-to-grid as standard. I love the pace of it, and I love helping our customers stay on the right side of every shift.”

- Daniel Elmer, Head of Technical

The wider team

The leadership team above is supported by around 60 other Greenscape employees across the following functions:

When you sign up to a Greenscape install, the people who show up at your house are Greenscape employees, on Greenscape wages, working under the leadership above. That continuity is what makes the difference between "renewable energy installer" and "sales operation that uses subcontracted installers".

Why we name names

A lot of renewable energy companies are mostly a website and a phone number. Big sales operations, subcontracted installers, multiple call centres, no continuity from one phone call to the next.

Greenscape is not that. The person who surveys your home will be a Greenscape employee. The people who install it will be Greenscape employees. The person on the technical support line will be Dan or one of his team. The person who handles your snag visit will be one of Sarah's customer operations team.

You will not be passed around a faceless system. When you ask “who is dealing with my install?”, the answer will be a real person with a real name, in our office, in Ipswich, who you can phone directly.

That is the company we have built over 14 years. It is what gets us the 95% recommendation rate. It is the version of renewable energy installation we are going to keep growing.

Had my Air Con installed today.. Could not fault the two installers who attended. . Arrived nice and early, took a look around outside and indoors no hesitation in starting work and confirming where I wanted the appliance. Shoes off each time they entered house and completed the tidy up after themselves. Remote and operation of A/C explained to me.. Good work, keep it up.

I've just had solar panels, battery and EV charger installed by Mark and Luke. They arrived a little early, did the job as quietly as possible with no fuss, and have finished much earlier than I'd expected. Mark then explained what's what, which I think I'll remember. Couldn't expect more. Scaffolding subcontractor was similarly efficient putting the scaffolding up. The back office and survey staff have been friendly and efficient too. It has been good to be able to visit the showroom office in Ipswich.

Michaela, dealt with my finance query in a professional, efficient manner, and placated my fears that the progress on my solar system would be paused until the return of the surveyor from holiday. Good customer care. Thank you

I have been very impressed with the service I received from Greenscape. The initial survey was very professionally done by Andrew and I was pleased that he convinced me not to have more panels than necessary. The team that installed the battery and inverter were excellent and very pleasant to deal with. The system is up and running and there have been no complications. I thoroughly recommend Greenscape.

I arranged to have solar panels and a battery installed by Greenscape via OVO Energy. From start to finish, the service has been excellent. From the survey, to the panel installation and battery installation, every team member has been professional and very friendly. The after sales have kept in contact to make sure everything has gone smoothly. Couldn't fault Greenscape.
