Derek had been considering solar for a while before a Solar Together Cambridgeshire leaflet prompted him to get in touch. Keen to reduce energy costs and lower his environmental impact, his main challenge had simply been finding a reputable company — the assurance of the ST scheme gave him the confidence to move forward.
Derek's home was fitted with a 9.6kWh Pylon battery system alongside 17 panels across two arrays, positioned 90 degrees apart to maximise the energy curve throughout the day. Despite scaffolding needing to go up and down in a single day due to a public footpath, the team handled it without issue. Any early technical problems were resolved quickly, and with intentions to disconnect from gas entirely, they had an Air Source Heat Pump installed a month later.
From March to October, Derek's home runs entirely on solar and stored energy. In 2024, the system generated 5,172kWh, exporting 54% back to the grid. The original 12-year payback was calculated at just 17p per unit, meaning the real-world ROI is now expected considerably sooner.
Put in as much as you can afford, for both solar and batteries.

Had my Air Con installed today.. Could not fault the two installers who attended. . Arrived nice and early, took a look around outside and indoors no hesitation in starting work and confirming where I wanted the appliance. Shoes off each time they entered house and completed the tidy up after themselves. Remote and operation of A/C explained to me.. Good work, keep it up.

Easy payment by credit card
I've just had solar panels, battery and EV charger installed by Mark and Luke. They arrived a little early, did the job as quietly as possible with no fuss, and have finished much earlier than I'd expected. Mark then explained what's what, which I think I'll remember. Couldn't expect more. Scaffolding subcontractor was similarly efficient putting the scaffolding up. The back office and survey staff have been friendly and efficient too. It has been good to be able to visit the showroom office in Ipswich.
